Aikido: The Way of the Harmony of the Spirit, the way to become one with the universe.
Aikido is a Japanese traditional martial art founded by Master Morihei UESHIBA (O Sensei), it is an art of defense based on the principles of non-violence and non-competitiveness. The study of this art is aimed at neutralize any type of attack and to free oneself from every possible arm-lock without using physical force, in thus preserving not only one’s own safety, but also that of the aggressor.
• FUN
• CONCENTRATION
• SELF-CONTROL
• DISCIPLINE AND ETIQUETTE
• MIND-BODY COORDINATION
• RESPECT FOR ONESELF AND THE OTHERS
• AGILITY
• SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY
• HARMONIOUS PSYCOPHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Aikido is practiced into a Dojo, where all the exercises, the games and the techniques are performed. The children generally train in couples or in small groups, imitating the movements shown by the master. The practice in couples or groups encourages the socialization and increases the ability to cope with other people and the sense of respect of the rules..
A lot of importance is then given to etiquette, mutual respect, non-violence and learning of a positive and correct life-style.
Through concentration and respiration exercises much stress is given to the “inner” aspects of the art.
